Karnataka Schedule of Rates
About Karnataka PWD
Karnataka's Common Schedule of Rates is consolidated across six disciplines and applies pan-state to all PWD, WRD, BWSSB, KPTCL/ESCOM and Minor Irrigation works. Engineers preparing BOQs for Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru and rural Karnataka work off these volumes. Quarterly issue-rate amendments adjust market-driven items (cement, steel, bitumen) without reissuing the full SR.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the latest Karnataka SOR?
The 2023-24 GrandFinale (released 15-Nov-2023) is the canonical full-text SR. The 2024-25 and 2025-26 years continue via Government Orders. The 2026-27 Q1 Issue Rate (eff 04-Apr-2026) is the most current rate adjustment.
How are the six volumes organised?
Vol 1 — Common SR (general items); Vol 2 — Buildings (RCC, masonry, finishes); Vol 3 — Roads & Bridges; Vol 4 — Water Resources Dept / Minor Irrigation / KPCL; Vol 5 — Water Supply (BWSSB rates); Vol 6 — Electrical (KPTCL, ESCOMs and PWD-Ele).
What are Issue Rates?
Quarterly amendments published by KPWD between full SR revisions. They update market-driven items (cement, steel, bitumen, etc.) without reissuing the full SR. The 2026-27 Q1 Issue Rate is the current applicable rate.
Do BBMP works use the Karnataka Common SR?
BBMP (Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) generally adopts the KPWD SR as the base rate, with city-specific adjustments for congested-site overheads. BWSSB water-supply works use Vol 5 directly.
Is the SR applicable to private projects?
The SR is mandatory for state government works. Private developers and consultants reference it for benchmarking but are not bound by it. Many real-estate consulting firms in Bengaluru use the SR as a reasonableness check on contractor quotes.
