Gujarat Forest Schedule of Rates
About Gujarat Forest & Environment Department
Gujarat's forest cover spans Gir Sanctuary, Velavadar, Marine National Park, Khijadiya, plus the substantial reserved forest belt across Saurashtra and South Gujarat hills. Forest Dept civil works include afforestation (per-hectare planting rates including pitting, seedlings, watering, watching), nursery operations, soil-moisture conservation structures (CPT walls, gully plugs, gabion structures), wildlife sanctuary infrastructure (anti-poaching camps, watch towers, perimeter fencing), and forest-rest-house construction. The Forest SOR has line items not covered by R&B's general civil SOR — most notably plantation-per-hectare rates that distinguish urban tree planting from large-area afforestation.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is Forest SOR different from R&B Civil SOR?
Forest SOR has plantation-specific items (per-hectare afforestation, pitting, bamboo nursery, CPT walls, gabion structures) not in R&B Civil. R&B covers general civil items used inside forest works (RCC for buildings, masonry for fencing, etc.). Engineers use both together — Forest for forestry-specific, R&B for general civil.
What's a typical afforestation rate?
₹3-8 lakh per hectare depending on species mix, density (typically 1,000-2,500 plants/ha), pitting depth, watering frequency (3-7 years), and watching cost. Coastal afforestation (mangrove, casuarina belt) and high-altitude afforestation cost more than plain dryland.
Are there separate rates for nursery operations?
Yes. Nursery establishment cost (per polybag plant), nursery maintenance (per month, per 1000 plants), seed procurement, and shifting/transport are all line items in the Forest SOR.
What about Sasan Gir / lion habitat works?
Wildlife sanctuary works (Gir, Wild Ass Sanctuary, Marine NP) use Forest SOR plus project-specific clearances under the Wildlife Protection Act. Anti-poaching infrastructure (camps, watchtowers, fencing in lion-roaming corridors) is a major scope.
