IS 2825:1969 is the Indian Standard (BIS) for code for unfired pressure vessels. IS 2825 is India's code for unfired pressure vessels — the Indian equivalent of ASME Section VIII. It covers design, fabrication, inspection, and testing of pressure vessels used in chemical, petroleum, pharmaceutical, and process industries. Compliance is mandatory under Indian Boiler Regulations.

IS 2825 is the legally mandated code in India under Indian Boiler Regulations. However, many EPC companies use ASME VIII for design and fabrication because it is more comprehensive and regularly updated. Both are accepted by Indian regulatory authorities.

A factor (0.7-1.0) that accounts for weld quality. Full radiographic testing (RT) of all welds gives E=1.0 (thinnest shell). No RT gives E=0.7 (requires thicker shell to compensate for potential weld defects).
