GERI Schedule of Rates
About Gujarat Engineering Research Institute (Materials Testing Rates)
Gujarat Engineering Research Institute is the state's premier materials-testing laboratory under the Narmada Water Resources Water Supply & Kalpsar Department. It conducts certification testing for civil construction materials and water-resource project investigations. GERI's published Schedule of Rates is for testing services — per-sample charges for soil index tests (gradation, Atterberg, Proctor, CBR), concrete cube/cylinder testing, cement consistency tests, steel tensile/bend tests, bitumen penetration/softening, aggregate gradation/abrasion, water quality testing. Engineers preparing QA/QC budgets use this schedule. The 2018-19 edition is the latest publicly indexed; mid-cycle adjustments come via departmental memoranda.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is GERI testing mandatory?
For state-funded works, GERI or another approved lab must certify materials per IS code testing methods. Some private labs are also approved by Gujarat government. The 2018-19 SOR is GERI's own service-charge schedule.
What's a typical concrete cube test cost?
₹400-800 per cube (3 cubes per sample). Includes testing per IS 516 plus reporting. Aggressive testing schedules (multiple samples per pour) drive QA/QC budget significantly for major projects.
Does GERI do dam-instrumentation work?
Yes. GERI provides geotechnical investigations, dam-instrumentation calibration, monitoring services for major water-resource projects (Sardar Sarovar, Narmada main canal, Kalpasar). These are project-specific, not in the standard SOR.
Where are GERI rates listed?
guj-nwrws.gujarat.gov.in/downloads/sor-18-19-geri-03042018.pdf is the canonical 2018-19 schedule. For current pricing engineers contact GERI directly or reference the most-recent tender annexure citing GERI rates.
