S.No.CheckpointIS RequirementStatus
A. STRUCTURAL & SURFACE CONDITION
A1Surface fully cured: Plaster ≥14 days, concrete ≥28 days minimum age before painting
Acceptance: Moisture content <10% for plaster; <8% for concrete; hygrometer verified
Cl. 301 — Maturity requirement
A2Structural cracks >3mm sealed with epoxy; hairline cracks <1mm acceptable as-is
Acceptance: Cracks >3mm sealed; cured 7 days; small cracks can be filled during primer stage
Cl. 301 — Crack treatment
A3Surface defects (holes, spalls, etc.) repaired with filler or plaster; flushed and smooth
Acceptance: Repairs cured; sanded smooth; no proud/recessed areas >2mm over 1m span
Cl. 301 — Surface repair
B. CLEANING & PREPARATION
B1Surface cleaned: Removal of dust, dirt, loose paint, mold, algae; mechanical brushing/washing
Acceptance: Wire brush/vacuum; <2% dust/dirt remaining; visual 100% inspection; clean cloth test
Cl. 301 — Surface cleaning
B2Old paint removal: Loose/flaking paint removed; sound paint can remain; adhesion verified by scraping
Acceptance: Scrape test shows no flaking; if more than 20% loose, strip surface; sanding required if glossy
Cl. 301 — Coating removal
B3Mold/fungal growth treated: Affected areas cleaned with biocide solution; re-growth prevention noted
Acceptance: Biocide wash applied; 48-hour wait; visual inspection confirms removal; dry before painting
Cl. 301 — Biological contamination
B4Oil/grease removed: Degreaser wash for contaminated surfaces; dry before painting
Acceptance: No sheen visible; clean towel test negative; 24-hour drying minimum
Cl. 301 — Contaminant removal
C. MOISTURE & DAMPNESS CONTROL
C1Surface moisture <10% for plaster, <8% for concrete; measured by hygrometer before painting
Acceptance: Hygrometer reading within limits; dry conditions; wait if wet; summer painting preferred
Cl. 301 — Moisture control
C2Efflorescence removed: Salt deposits cleaned by brushing; visual inspection for re-appearance 48 hrs later
Acceptance: Salt removed; no white deposit remains; sealing coat recommended for new concrete
Cl. 301 — Salt removal
C3Rising damp assessed: If moisture rising from ground, DPC repair required before painting
Acceptance: Damp <1m above ground → DPC repair priority; above 1m → OK to paint with damp-proof primer
Cl. 301 — Damp assessment
