Paint & Coating Coverage Rates

IS 2395 & CPWD Specs · IS 2395 (Parts 1–4) — Painting of Buildings; CPWD Specifications 2019 Chapter 14
Paint and coating coverage rates for estimation and procurement. Actual coverage depends on surface porosity, texture, application method (brush/roller/spray), and number of coats.

Notes
Coverage rates are approximate — actual coverage depends on surface condition and application method
Spray application uses 10–15% more paint than brush/roller due to overspray
New plaster must be cured 28 days before painting — fresh alkalinity damages paint
Add 5% wastage factor for estimation
For BOQ: specify paint brand, type, number of coats, surface preparation
Surface preparation (cleaning, sanding, filling cracks) is as important as the paint itself
