About
Mumbai Metro Line 2A (Yellow Line) is an 18.6 km fully elevated metro corridor connecting Dahisar (north Mumbai) to DN Nagar (Andheri West). Together with Line 7 (which runs parallel on the eastern side of the Western Express Highway), it completes the metro orbital around Mumbai's western suburbs.
MMRDA sanctioned the project in 2015 and executed it directly (not via PPP) at ₹6,410 crore. Construction began in 2016 with phased revenue services from April 2022 (Dahisar-Aarey, 9 km) and full line opening in 2023 (Aarey-DN Nagar). The line uses BEML-built 6-coach trainsets identical to Line 7's, running on 25 kV AC overhead.
Line 2A connects to: - Line 1 (Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar) at DN Nagar - Line 7 (Andheri East-Dahisar East) at Dahisar (with planned skywalk) - Future Line 2B (DN Nagar-Mandale, 23 km, under construction)
Daily ridership averages 180,000 as of late 2024. The line cuts Dahisar-DN Nagar travel from 65 minutes to 22 minutes.
