Practical Notes
Non-ferrous metals lack a adequate mechanical key; hence, proper pretreatment (as per Part 1) or the use of wash/etch primers is critical for paint adhesion.
Copper and lead are typically only painted for decorative purposes or to prevent run-off staining on adjacent masonry, rather than for corrosion protection.
Ensure surfaces are completely dry and free from grease, oil, or oxidation products before primer application.
