IS 1817:2016 is the Indian Standard (BIS) for methods of test for coating thickness on non-magnetic substrates. IS 1817 covers eddy current method for measuring coating thickness on non-magnetic substrates — the complement to IS 6746 (magnetic method for steel). Used for measuring anodizing thickness on aluminium, paint on stainless steel, and coatings on non-ferrous metals.
