IS 12049:2009 is the Indian Standard (BIS) for star rating for refrigerating appliances. IS 12049 covers the energy efficiency testing and star rating methodology for household refrigerators and freezers. BEE star label is mandatory. 5-star rated refrigerators consume 30-40% less energy than 2-star models.
