Why this matters

Living rooms host varied activities — TV watching, conversation, casual reading, entertainment. The 100-200 lux range is the comfortable middle ground that suits all of these without being clinical.

Typical practice

Most living rooms use layered lighting: ambient ceiling light (~150 lux) + accent lighting + task lamps for reading (~400 lux locally).
