| A. FRAME OPENING MEASUREMENT | |||
| A1 | Opening width measured at top, middle, and bottom; three readings taken and averaged Acceptance: Measurements within ±2 mm of design; average recorded; no excessive variation between top/middle/bottom (≤3 mm range) | Cl. 4.1 — Width verification | |
| A2 | Opening height measured at left, center, and right; three readings taken and averaged Acceptance: Measurements within ±2 mm of design; average recorded; uniform height across width | Cl. 4.2 — Height verification | |
| A3 | Opening diagonal measurements taken (corner to opposite corner); difference ≤3 mm for squareness Acceptance: Diagonal 1 and Diagonal 2 measured; difference calculated; acceptance: ≤3 mm for typical openings | Cl. 4.3 — Squareness verification | |
| B. ACCEPTANCE SUMMARY | |||
| B1 | Overall dimensional compliance: opening dimensions within tolerance and square Acceptance: PASS if all measurements within ±2 mm; FAIL if deviations exceed tolerance or squareness > 3 mm | Cl. 5.1 — Final determination | |
Doors and windows are mass-produced (factory or workshop-made) + installed in fabricated openings on site. Dimensional discrepancies are unavoidable: opening dimensions vary by 5-10 mm; shutter/frame dimensions vary by 3-5 mm; gaps + interferences emerge at installation.
The Dimensional Check Report verifies that each delivered door/window unit matches the order specification AND that the corresponding opening matches the design. This catches mismatches BEFORE installation when correction is cheap (return / re-fabricate); catching them AFTER installation costs 10× more.
Common units checked: shutter dimensions (height + width + thickness), frame outer dimensions, frame thickness, hardware positioning (hinges, locks, handles), glass dimensions + thickness, weather-stripping, hardware quality.
Per-unit checks (with allowable tolerance): - Shutter height: ± 3 mm vs spec - Shutter width: ± 3 mm vs spec - Shutter thickness: ± 1 mm vs spec - Frame outer dimensions: ± 3 mm in height + width - Frame thickness: ± 1 mm - Hinges position: ± 2 mm from spec (typically 200 mm from top + bottom) - Lock position: ± 3 mm from spec - Glass dimensions (for glazed): ± 2 mm; thickness as per spec ± 5% - Diagonal check: shutter / frame should be square; diagonals within 3 mm of each other - Squareness of opening: site opening checked; if not square, shutter alignment compromised
Hardware verification: - Hinges: brand, material grade, quantity per shutter - Locks: per spec; key cylinder type matches - Handles + pulls: as specified - Weather strip: continuous, no gaps - Glass: tempered (IS 2553)? Laminated? Frosted? Per spec
Test instruments: steel tape (1 mm precision), spirit level, square, micrometer (for thickness).
Acceptance: each unit gets a 'PASS' or 'FAIL' status; failed units returned for re-fabrication or rejected.
1. Opening not square — site opening rectangular but corner angles off; shutter cannot align; needs trim packing. 2. Shutter too tight — fits opening with no clearance; cannot swing open; needs grinding / re-fabrication. 3. Shutter too loose — large gap; needs jamb beading + door sweep; visual + acoustic issues. 4. Hinges wrong location — placement non-standard or mismatched between shutter + frame; alignment issues. 5. Lock height wrong — lockset misaligned with door handle bore; cannot operate. 6. Glass too small — fits but reveals frame edge; needs replacement. 7. Hardware wrong specification — SS 304 ordered, MS supplied; corrosion within months. 8. Glass type mismatch — toughened ordered, ordinary supplied; safety risk per IS 2553. 9. No tolerance accepted — every minor deviation rejected; project delays. 10. Documentation gaps — checks done but not recorded; later disputes.
