Notes & assumptions
  • **Default size 4 × 3 × 3 m** (12 m² floor area) is the JJM-recommended minimum for a typical village pump-house housing one centrifugal pump (≤ 25 HP) + valve gallery + chlorinator + 1-panel MCC. For larger pumps (50+ HP) bump to 5 × 4 m; for OHSR adjacent pump-house with bigger pump-set 6 × 4 m.

For black-cotton expansive soil bump foundation depth to 1.5 m + add 100 mm sand cushion to absorb seasonal swell. For hard-rock sites 600 mm rock-cut foundation suffices. **RCC roof slab 150 mm** with edge beam 230 × 300 mm carries the slab dead-load + 1.5 kN/m² live load (per IS 875 Part 2 for inaccessible roof) easily for 4-5 m clear span — typical pump-house.
